Manage your rental property remotely with IoT
Are you managing one or multiple rental properties? If you’re acting as a business or just by yourself we are going to show you a few tips to automate the check-in and checkout process of your Airbnb.
The idea is to automate tasks to make their stay more enjoyable and giving you this overview and alert management console if you happen to manage multiple properties at once. So, here is a list of smart devices you can install in your properties to automate the check-in / check-out and get this 5-star review.
1. Exterior cameras or Doorbell
When your gest arrives at your front door the camera detects movement in front of the house and sends you a notification. This is the start of the check-in process and your moment to give them all the attention they need to access the apartment. You can also use a smart doorbell to leverage the camera to notify you and interact with your host with voice.
2. Smart Locks
You have multiple options here : either the door will open itself because you are piloting the check-in for your host remotely or you can program a check-in protocol and communicate it with your host via email or the Airbnb App. You can use a smart lock like the Nuki smart lock that perfectly integrates with Apple Home kit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and the Airbnb App. The idea here is to give the freedom to your host to arrive in the apartment even in the middle of the night. You can use a keypad with a changeable code or the smart lock for a one-time entry and leave the keys inside the apartment.

4. Smart Garage-door devices.
If you offer your hosts the possibility to access the garage of the property you may want to allow them to access to the garage-door. You can use devices like the My-Q Chamberlain to open and close the garage door, once the host is inside you can leave him instructions or simply the remote.
This type of device also pairs with Amazon Key : if you’re a Prime user and live in an eligible zone you can automatically allow garage deliveries to your home. Who knows, something might be replaced during the stay or you can deliver appliances and have somebody do the work while you sip your cocktail in the Bahamas.
Now that your host has accessed the property let’s make him feel at home 😊
5. Setup a welcome protocol with IFTTT.
Picture your host in the living room, it’s time to welcome your host for the first time and good news you have a great welcome protocol that is going to run only ones but this will amaze your guest. Program your IFTTT app to launch a welcome message through your Google Home ore Amazon Alexa home assistant “Welcome home [First Name], I’m your voice assistant, feel free to ask me anything about this house … we hope you enjoy your stay”
Typically hosts are going to be looking for the wifi password because they are coming from another country and can’t use their data locally. Use the self-check-in app to authorize the host’s device in advance so he can connect even in front of the door.
<End of Checking Process>

At AIofTheTiger We are working on creating easy plug and play IoT kits based on scenarios like the BnB Check-in process. The idea is to test the interest of the market and create this kit with compelling set-up content to help you automate as quickly as possible.
If you are reading this article until now you are probably part of our targeted audience. Look at our landing page and leave-us your email so we can use your insights to build the perfect kit. See this as a Kickstarter, we would need a mini base of beta testers to launch the project on the field.
Thanks for your support, let’s start automating 😉
